Visit to Hong Kong (Jan 18, 2004)

Hong Kong Island skyline looking across from Kowloon (the Tsim Tsha Tsui promenade) - plus extra fireworks & lighting for the Chinese New Year. The last shot is the Kowloon Clock Tower and HK Arts Center.

On Victoria Peak and the views from it.

Hobnobbing with the celebrities. And a rare, relatively free, stretch of LA highway.

Some more HK high-rises. The last two photos are of the tallest building in HK - the International Financial Center.

Some Hong Kong culture... Me taking on Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan smiling at me taking on Bruce Lee, the Hong Kong version of a coffee-house : where you get ginseng tea and birds nest, shop selling exotic dried sea creatures.

Inside Hong Kong airport. A lighted diorama of a piece of Chinese mythology, the longest elevator in the world, used by Hong Kongoans to got from middle to lower levels of the city - apparently, it goes down during the morning rush and up the rest of the time, the famous Nathan Street in Kowloon, and typical Hong Kong streets with lots of people and signs.

Inside the The Man Mo temple - Hong Kong's oldest Tao temple. Man is the civil God and Mo is the martial God (or vice-versa), or so said my volunteer Hong Kong school-girl guide. When you enter the temple, you sound the gong 3 times to announce your arrival. If you have any wishes, you buy the serpentine incense sticks and leave them burning for a week. The deities are : Hong Kong's city God, Man and Mo, and the God of Justice.
