Trip to Detroit (Sep 30, 2004)

Detroit buildings and public art within the city and at the riverfront, including boxing arm dedicated to Joe Lewis, a huge ring - the Michigan Labor Legacy Landmark called "Transcending", and the gateway to freedom sculpture celebrating the role of Michigan as a place where free slaves went.

At the GM headquarters and museum within the building.

Greektown, Detroit.

Psychedelic walkway connecting concourses in Detroit airport.

At the IMax theater at Ford Museum - seeing SpiderMan 2.

At the Ford Museum, Dearborn. Some interesting exhibits - the chair on which Lincoln was sitting when he was assassinated by Booth, the Wright Brother's plane, barnstorming diorama, "steel-collar workers" or robots, stripping an early Ford car, the bus where Rosa Parks was thrown out of, Edison's stock ticker, a Weinermobile.
